Hi, I'm Kylie.
I'm a graphic designer and painter living in Havelock North, New Zealand.
I was drawn to abstract art while completing my graphic design degree. The expressive, gestural feel of my paintings often evolves through ‘happy accidents’ which set the direction of the piece. My fluid approach involves overpainting layers of colour to add texture and depth, then paring back and adding detail.
Seeking beauty in imperfection is a strong theme throughout my work, and something I value in daily life. It offers a sense of freedom that encourages creativity and inspiration.
Finding the balance of colour, composition and movement is a challenge I love, and I'm constantly evolving my style and approach to creating art.
I paint from home where I live with my husband, Dave, and our sons, Ben and Charlie. From here I also run my graphic design business, Ponder.
